After a long time in the grime, Chris Law AKA C-Law flew the crookednest across the Atlantic, up-coast to study his trade under the mighty Adi Dassler.

With passion proven through a lifelong obsession with trainers, the 3 stripes embraced C-Law's design and product appreciation and made him a general.

Now, C-Law has come out to play once again with his pal and master of the script BJ Betts. The two heads united, and combined with the expert guidance of the Addict, they executed the new 'Screw Face' camo.

From hip-hop to heavy artillery and tattoos to typography, every element of BJ Bett’s career is visible in his work. Active within the same Philly hip-hop scene that spawned icons such as Cash Money, Jazzy Jeff, Steady B and a certain Fresh Prince, after taking on a military career that included service world-wide, BJ threw himself into illustration fulltime, developing a distinctive art style influenced by his life experiences.

With tattooing as his medium, his style utilises elements from gothic imagery and Japanese folklore with an emphasis on perfecting fonts and unique lettering. This knack for creating unique body art led to his role as proprietor of his own studio - Delaware’s acclaimed Lucky Buddha. Awards and trade magazine spotlights followed, resulting in illustration work including involvement as one of the artists chosen for the Burton Snowboards ‘Rides Of Passion’ exhibition, as well as various art gallery showings.

Steadily generating a buzz away from the needle, BJ’s portfolio continues to expand from flesh to paper, leather and fabric. Working as part of the acclaimed House 33 crew, he’s redesigned the logo for Hikaru Iwanaga’s cutting edge, Tokyo-based Bounty Hunter brand.



A lifelong sneaker devotee with an unhealthy buying habit that’s led to a closet of more than 600 pairs, last year he collaborated with PUMA on three unique RS100 models based on his designs, as well as the artwork for 3 hugely popular Easter versions of the iconic Clyde.

Recent months have seen his art and fonts on the packaging and tongues of all four shoes in the Crooked Tongues x New Balance ‘Confederation Of Villainy’ range, garnering massive interest, sales and positive feedback, with his artwork and vision taking an integral role as part of this sellout package. 

BJ’s trademark lettering recently made an appearance on another limited edition PUMA shoe - a collaboration with rising electro act MSTRKRFT, and his work with the Crooked Tongues crew is set to continue throughout the year, with several projects looking to utilize his considerable talents.

Even if the project isn’t based beneath the skin, BJ applies the same intensity and dedication to the work in order to create a permanent mark - whatever the medium...
