Jason Macmillan is the driving force behind Forty Thieves Apparel. Born and raised in the UK he's now based in Vietnam. The self taught veteran graffiti artist turned graphics, textile and packaging designer is producing highly limited, premium quality, screen printed t-shirts and accessories. He's recently worked with his long time friends at Addict on some collaboration projects for summer 2009. More projects are planned with Addict & other labels for the future!
History
It has been a life long goal of Jason to create a small independent clothing label. Influenced by early rap & electro music, b-boy culture, Adidas shell toes, Puma states, Fila, Adidas, Nike & Troop tracksuits, leather goose jackets, Kangol hats and Cazals Jason took these memories & experiences of the early 1980's and made the label what it is today.
More importantly the graffiti side of it; the art, bombing, tagging, throw ups, full pieces, he remembers there was a great buzz back in the day as everything was new. This would be the foundation for things to come later in the artist’s life.
Forty Thieves Apparel started in November 2007 in Vietnam, where the Jason is currently based. His aim is to give a global market the opportunity to purchase some highly limited premium screen printed t-shirts. The ethos at Forty Thieves is: 'Limited means limited 'This is a rare quality to find in today's urban fashion market.
Jason has been living in Vietnam for just under two years now, spending the last 15 years of his life working & traveling mostly in other parts of Asia. He has had some very memorable opportunities and experiences happen upon him whilst traveling around the world in the form of ‘jobs’! Over the years he has been a light & props man on Japanese porn films in Tokyo and TV & film extras for US film companies in the Philippines. He also owned and run a small Thai restaurant on Koh Samui in Thailand for several years. Asia is his second home although he still has a great love the UK for all its ups and downs, but this is where he lays his (many!) hat(s). At present he sells the limited tees out of select outlets in Vietnam and is adding more outlets all the time. He also sells in the five-o-store Southampton Hants, England.
